Domaine de Montcalmes - Larzac Terraces - Magnum 2021
Domaine de Montcalmès is located in Languedoc , in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation for its red wines and Coteaux du Languedoc for its whites. The estate covers 22 hectares, in the communes of Puéchabon, Aniane, Saint-Jean-de-Fos and Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian. Domaine de Montcalmès has been run by Frédéric Pourtalié and his sister, Muriel , since 1998. They cultivate Syrah and Grenache vines with an average age of thirty years, as well as Mourvèdre. The estate has been organically farmed since 2012, and certified since 2015.
Terrasses du Larzac is a blend of Syrah (60%), Mourvèdre (20%) and Grenache (20%) . The different grape varieties are vinified separately . The harvest is first destemmed and crushed. Vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts and undergoes a 30-day maceration. The three grape varieties undergo regular punching down. Aging takes place in oak barrels of one wine, two wines or more for 24 months . The three grape varieties are then blended two months before bottling.
