Clos de la Barthassade - Cuvée H 2023
Le Clos de la Barthassade is located in Aniane, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac in Languedoc . The estate was founded in 2014 by Burgundians Hélène and Guillaume Baron . They trained with renowned winemakers such as Dominique Derain, Sylvain Pataille, at the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or and at the Domaine de Trévallon. The estate of approximately 13 hectares is made up of several islets of vines planted on limestone scree terraces, located in the communes of Montpeyroux, Jonquières and Saint-Saturnin. The couple sets up a natural plot-based vinification, without added yeast or sulfur. The vineyard is worked organically and certain tasks are punctuated by the biodynamic calendar.
Cuvée H is a blend of Syrah (70%), Mourvèdre (15%) and Grenache (15%) . The average age of the vines is 35 years. They are grown on a terroir of limestone scree in Montpeyroux and Jonquières. . The vinification is carried out using 50% whole harvests. Pumping over is carried out during 2/3 of the fermentation, followed by punching down and a 3-week vatting period. The wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel vats (80%) and barrels (20%) .
