Château MAUCAILLOU 1998
Château Maucaillou is located in Moulis-en-Médoc , in the Bordeaux region. The Petit-Laroche family , wine merchants in the 19th century, had the Moulis cellars and warehouses built in 1871, in the geographical center of Haut-Médoc. In 1875, J. Petit-Laroche married and offered his wife as a wedding present the construction of a beautiful bourgeois residence opposite his Médoc cellars: the current Château. At the same time, J. Petit-Laroche built a new wine estate on one and a half hectares at the places called "Maucaillou" and "Caubet", which would take the name Château Maucaillou. "Maucaillou" means "bad stones", in the sense understood by farmers in the Middle Ages, because this type of gravelly plot of land was unsuitable for any cereal cultivation, the main source of survival at the time. Later, it was realized that these gravelly hillocks constituted a preferred terroir for highly expressive vineyards. The Château now belongs to the Dourthe family .
Château Maucaillou is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot . The wine is aged in barrels .
