Château LEOVILLE LAS CASES 1992
Château Léoville Las Cases is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle , in the Bordeaux region. It is classified as a Second Grand Cru Classé in the Médoc and Graves Classification of 1855. The estate has a history dating back to the mid-17th century, when It was part of a much larger estate. During the French Revolution, the estate was divided in two with a small section becoming Château Léoville-Barton. In 1840, the original estate was divided again, creating the Château Léoville-Poyferré. Pierre-Jean, Adolphe and Gabriel de Las Cases were the successive heirs of the property until 1900, when Théophile Skawinski took a share of the estate and became its manager. Léoville Las Cases has been run by the same family since the end of the 19th century and is now represented by Jean-Hubert Delon , sole owner of the Château and owner of Château Potensac in the Médoc and Château Nénin in Pomerol.
Léoville-Las-Cases 1992 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (43%), Merlot (29%), Cabernet Franc (21%) and Petit Verdot (7%) . The 1992 vintage experienced a cold winter that eventually turned into a warm spring causing early flowering. However, these mild conditions did not last as the summer saw the most rainfall of any summer in the last 50 years. This led to an explosion of growth and the green harvesting was a necessity.
