Beaumont Family Wines - Raoul's Red Blend 2022
Beaumont Family Wines is located in the heart of the town of Bot River in the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa . The farm was established in the 1700s by the Dutch East India Company producing fruit, vegetables, dairy products, wine and flour. Jayne and Raoul Beaumont bought the farm in 1974 and began replanting the vines. Since 2015, Sebastian Beaumont (the eldest son) and his wife Nici have taken over the management of the property. Their approach to winemaking is instinctive, old and low yielding Chenin Blanc and Pinotage vines are honoured in the process, allowing the wines to be a true reflection of the land and vineyards.
Raoul's Red Blend is a blend of Syrah, Pinotage, Malbec, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon . After the harvest, part of the harvest (70%) is crushed and fermented in concrete vats, followed by a few days of cold maceration. The remainder (30%) is fermented in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels and concrete vats .
