Domaine Paul Prieur - Sancerre White - The Damned Mountains 2022
Domaine Paul Prieur is located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation in the Loire Valley. The family estate has been managed by Luc Prieur since 2012, representing the 11th generation. The 14.5-hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is concentrated on the limestone terroirs of Verdigny and Chavignol (Caillottes and Terres Blanches), as well as on the Silex terroirs of the village of Thauvenay. The red wines come from the 5-hectare lieu-dit "Les Pichons", planted in mass selection in the 1950s. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2022 .
This Sancerre Blanc is made from Sauvignon Blanc from the place called Les Monts Damnés planted on a Kimmeridgian marl terroir. Fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 15 months in 26.5 hectoliter wooden vats (70%) and in 600-liter tons (30%) .
