Domaine AF Gros - Burgundy Pinot Noir 2022
Domaine AF Gros is an estate based in Pommard , Burgundy that produces Pinot Noir at Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru levels from the communes of Pommard, Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. The estate is one of three created in 1988, when Jean and Jeanine Gros began sharing their estate (Domaine Jean Gros) between their three children, Michel, Bernard and Anne-Françoise. The estate covers 14 hectares planted mainly with Pinot Noir, both in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. A recently acquired parcel of vines in Moulin à Vent (in Beaujolais) completes the range of wines offered. François Parent, originally from Pommard, is Anne-Françoise's husband. He has been the winemaker of the estate's wines since its creation. Today, two of their three children work on the estate: Caroline and Mathias. The brother and sister split the winemaking, and the management, development and marketing of the wines.
The wines are produced in Beaune by a short cold maceration by Anne-Françoise's husband, François Parent, whose share of his family estate (Domaine Parent) was added to the estate when they married. The soils are cultivated traditionally, using sustainable farming methods and applying the principles of sustainable agriculture . The wines are aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. The ageing lasts 12 months for the Villages (50% new barrels on average), 15 months for the Premiers Crus (65% new barrels) and 18 months for the Grands Crus (100% new barrels).
