Domaine de l'Arlot - Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges 2019
Domaine de l'Arlot is located on the Côte de Nuits , just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy . The estate owns vines in several prestigious vineyards including two Premier Cru vineyards; the Clos de Forêts Saint-Georges monopole and Clos de l'Arlot. The Arlot vineyard was established in the 18th century when the owner of the property built the perimeter wall. It was later expanded by the wine merchant Jules Belin after he bought it in 1891. Its modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by Belin's heirs to the French investment company AXA Millésimes , which also owns several other wine estates. AXA further expanded Domaine de l'Arlot's holdings with parcels of the Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots Premier Cru vineyard and the Romanée Saint-Vivant Grand Cru. Agricultural practices have been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003.
Clos des Forêts Saint Georges Monopole is a Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru . The monopole defines a land unit, a terroir that has been perfectly defined for centuries and which belongs to a single owner. Clos des Forêts Saint Georges covers an area of 7.2 hectares in one piece, planted entirely with Pinot Noir . The harvest is manual and the vinification traditional: minimalist vatting, pumping over and punching down without excess to reveal all the characteristics of the terroir. The aging lasts 15 months in barrels (with a maximum of 50% new barrels), then 3 months in vats before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
