Domaine Abbatucci - Monte Bianco 2023
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo Valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties that contributes to the preservation of the island's wine-growing heritage. The estate is now managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with an influence of phytotherapy practices: plowing with horses and controlling winter grassing with his flock of sheep.
Monte Bianco Rouge is made from Sciaccarellu grapes grown on granite soils. Maceration lasts approximately 1 month in truncated cone-shaped vats with punching down and pumping over. After racking, the juices are separated. Aging lasts 12 months in demi-muids . The wines are reassembled in stainless steel vats and aged for 6 months before bottling.
