Domaine de Disznoko - Aszu 6 Puttonyos - Kapi 2015
Disznókő is an estate located in Tokaj , Hungary . Declared Premier Cru in 1732, it is one of the most suitable sites for the development of the aszú grape in the Tokaj wine region. The estate is among the warmest in the region : warmed by a constant summer heat rising off the Great Plain to the south, and protected from the cold winter winds by the Zemplén Mountains to the north. Disznókő has a single plot of land with 104 hectares of vineyards among the 150 hectares of the property, and the wine cellars are located in the vineyard. Historically owned by various aristocratic families, the estate was nationalized under communist governments in the 20th century. Since 1992, the estate has been owned by AXA Millésimes .
The highly selective, entirely manual harvest takes place from late August to early November over several harvests in the vineyard. Picking aszú berries is extremely laborious and requires great skill on the part of the harvesters.
Disznókő Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos is a single-plot cuvée from the Kapi vineyard. Furmint is grown on a terroir with lighter volcanic clay soil containing gravel. The grapes ripen late and easily become aszú berries, retaining excellent acidity. . The wine is ready to drink but can age 20 years or more in the cellar. It is enjoyed chilled and retains its aromas and freshness for several weeks in the refrigerator after opening.
Grape variety: 100% Furmint
