Domaine Joseph Chamonard - Fleurie 2022
THE Domaine Joseph Chamonard is located in Villié-Morgon, in the Beaujolais . The property was created by Geneviève and Jean-Claude Chanudet (known as "Le Chat") and is now managed by their daughter Jeanne . The estate is located in the appellations of Morgon And Flowery since the 18th century, and the age of the vines is between 60 and 90 years. The terroir is composed of pink granite, decomposed rocks and friable schists, exposed to the South. The Morgon plots (Les Chênes, Corcelette, Les Grands Cras and le Colombier) are located in the commune of Villié-Morgon. Domaine Chamonard also cultivates half a hectare of vines on the most beautiful hill of Fleurie, at an altitude of 400 meters.
The vines are cultivated in organic farming , according to respect for the environment: without chemicals, in manual harvests with a light plowing of the soil. In the cellars, only indigenous yeasts are used during fermentation and human intervention is minimal, in the same vein as the natural wines .
THE Flowery comes from half a hectare of Gamay vines planted in the area of The Madonna , which takes its name from the statue of the virgin at the top of the chapel overlooking the Fleurie hill located at an altitude of 400 meters. The winemaking is carried out in whole bunches to obtain a carbonic maceration in concrete tanks. Fermentation begins with natural yeasts and then undergoes a slight addition of sulfites. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in lightning of several passages. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. For this vintage, viticulture is in non-certified biodynamic .
