Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils - Corton Grand Cru - Hospices de Beaune - Cuvée Docteur Peste 2004
The Hospices Civiles de Beaune is a former charitable hospice founded in 1443 in the town of Beaune. It is now a modern hospital, with the original buildings serving as a museum. Since 1859, a charity wine auction has raised funds for the hospital, with the wines produced being marketed under the Hospice's umbrella label. The wines are made in the Hospices' cellar from approximately 60 hectares of vineyards that have been donated to the charity over many decades. The wines are then shipped to the buyer's designated négociant-élevage (who may be a winemaker themselves), who ages the wines in barrels and then bottles them.
The Cuvée du Docteur Peste was selected, aged and bottled by Reine Pédauque, a wine merchant and grower in Aloxe-Corton.
