Jean-Baptiste Hardy - Fief de Chaintre 2023
Domaine Jean-Baptiste Hardy is located in Mouzillon, in the heart of the Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine appellation, in the Loire Valley. In 2018, Jean-Baptiste Hardy took over approximately 4 hectares of old Melon B. vines, planted between 1950 and 1960. He trained at renowned estates such as Domaine Roulot in Burgundy and Bodegas Chacra in Patagonia. In 2022, he took over the family estate, gradually expanding his organic and biodynamic farming philosophy to an additional 14 hectares of vines.
Fief de Chaintre is made from mass selections of Melon B. , planted in 1960 on a silt terroir with gabbro subsoils. Vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts, for 12 months on lees , in 450-litre barrels and concrete vats. The batches are then blended in underground glass vats for 6 months .
Grape variety: 100% Melon B.
