Tenuta delle Terre Nere - Etna Rosso 2023
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is located in Randazzo, Sicily . The estate has been cultivating vines on the slopes of Mount Etna since 2002. It covers nearly 55 hectares, divided into 24 plots and six crus, with a total area of 27 hectares in production and 7 hectares in aging. All of Terre Nere's vineyards are cultivated organically since the winery's inception, with certification since 2010. Terre Nere's vineyards range from 600 to 1000 meters above sea level and are planted on steep slopes. The steepest slopes are tightly terraced and must be worked entirely by hand. Many of the vines are approaching 100 years old, and one plot that is over 130 years old was planted before the phylloxera epidemic of the late 19th century. Tenuta delle Terre Nere has vineyards in six crus : Calderara Sottana, San Lorenzo, Bocca d'Orzo, Santo Spirito, Guardiola and Feudo di Mezzo.
Etna Rosso is a blend of Nerello Mascalese (98%) and Nerello Cappucio (2%) , from young vines from all the estate's vineyards. It is aged in large French oak barrels (10 to 30 hectoliters) for 12 months , then 1 month in steel vats before bottling.
Grape varieties: 98% Nerello Mascalese, 2% Nerello Cappucio
