You have to go back 4 years to remember the last launch of an RD cuvée. In 2014, the 2002 vintage was released on the market. Unlike the 2004 which has just been presented by Bollinger, at the time it seemed quite austere, as if it had come out of its torpor too soon. As for the new vintage, it has a real and immediate charm with its notes of candied pineapple and its opulent, full and rich palate. But still a perfectly integrated acidity which makes it fresh, seductive. The dosage is often very low, 3 grams this time. An extra-brut which remains entirely in the spirit of what Madame Bollinger wanted when she decided to create this “Recently Disgorged” champagne 50 years ago . It was in fact in 1967 that it presented for the first time an RD, in this case the 1952. 15 years of aging and a very low dosage for the time (only 10 grams when the consumption habits were going towards champagnes dosed at 20 or 30 grams). Today, there is at least 10 years of aging for any RD, and this only in the greatest vintages. "We only produce this cuvée if the prolonged aging seems to us to be able to bring something more"
