A Castillon located three rows of vines from Saint-Emilion Grands Crus, vinified by Louis Mitjaville, son of the famous owner of Tertre Roteboeuf. The 19-hectare estate is made up of 85% Merlot and Cabernet Franc on clay-limestone soils. Louis specializes in the cultivation of Merlot. It only keeps the lowest bunches which arrive, ripen and are harvested at the same time. The Mitjaville leg is also a specific breeding, with barrels made and heated just for them.
L'Aurage 2009: on notes of cherries and blackberries, coffee. The palate is rich, warm, with a lot of substance and persistent. The wood is perfectly mastered here and the tannins are silky. Haute couture, modern style, a sure bet.
