Domaine Françoise and Denis Clair - Hautes Côtes de Beaune 2016
Created in 1986, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair covers 15 hectares (65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay) in the town of Saint-Aubin, in the far south of the Côte de Beaune.
Almost all of the production is vinified and bottled, i.e. around 75,000 bottles per year. Jean-Baptiste, the son, who works on the estate, created a small trading structure in order to further expand the range of wine produced.
He was able to bring the family estate to a very recommendable level. Their great Saint-Aubin terroirs (En Remilly, Les Murgers des Dents de Chien, Sur Gamay ...) combine notes of sweet chalk, maturity and density, without losing freshness, signature of Saint-Aubin. The whites are fine and crystalline. The reds are among the most attractive of Santenay. The Clair family was a pioneer in understanding the benefits of cooling grapes to extract the maximum of their aromatic potential.
