Jérôme Bretaudeau - Domaine de Bellevue - Quartz - Sauvignon Gris 2018
French wine
Jérôme Bretaudeau, a passionate and talented winemaker at Domaine de Bellevue.
At the beginning of the 90s, after his studies, Jérôme Bretaudeau started as head of culture at Alain Gaubert, in Vallet, on a conventional vineyard area of 25 ha. He remained there full time for thirteen years. Following this, in 2001, he took over his father's two hectares of vines in Gétigné. The town, historically wine-growing, saw its vines and winegrowers disappear over the years 80-90. It was without counting on Jérôme: over the years, he took over other plots and ended up settling in 2005 on 6 ha. The Domaine de Bellevue was born. It now totals 9 ha in four municipalities: Gétigné (where he is the only winegrower), Cugand (on the other side of the Sèvre Nantaise, therefore in Vendée), Clisson and Vallet (among the small flagship towns of the wine region) .
Jérôme Bretaudeau's cuvées are present in a number of stars.
Here he is today at the head of ten hectares with the desire to offer both Muscadet typical of their terroirs and exceptional wines. By dint of curiosity, ingenuity, sharing, talent and a lot of work, Jérôme Bretaudeau is now recognized to be one of the locomotives of the Muscadet appellation, which is reborn from its ashes.
In the heart of Muscadet, he vinifies the local grape variety (Melon de Bourgogne) but also Merlots, Cabernets, Chardonnay, and uses original vinification techniques (aging in concrete eggs, amphorae, solera, etc.).
