Felsina - Castello di Farnetella - Chianti 2016
Castello di Farnetella is an estate of 432 hectares, of which 56 are planted with vines and located in the province of Siena, Toscana. The estate’s vineyards and olive groves are located near the medieval hamlet, at elevations ranging from 220 to 560 metres of altitude. Beginning in the early 1980s, micro-vinifications were carried out, vineyard by vineyard, with the objective of developing the full potential of Sangiovese, the iconic variety of the local growing area. In 1981 Castello di Farnetella was purchased by the Poggiali family, owner of the Fèlsina farm in Castelnuovo Berardenga.
The 2016 Chianti Colli Senesi is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. It undergoes an ageing of 8-12 months of maturation in small, medium and large oak, followed by 3 months in the bottle.
