Domaine Vincent DELAPORTE - Chavignol - Sancerre Rouge 2019
Domaine Delaporte is located in the Loire Valley, in the Sancerre appellation in the heart of the village of Chavignol. It is a family-owned estate, passed down from father to son since the 17th century. Since 2010, it is Matthieu Delaporte, Vincent’s grandson who manages the estate and he has undertaken major restructuring: tillage without herbicides, lower yields, vinification in barrels. To make these changes a reality, the estate is embarking on the conversion process to organic farming from 2020. The production wines are exclusively harvested from the 33 hectares of the property, which are planted with 75% Sauvignon Blanc, and for the rest of Pinot Noir.
The Sancerre Chavignol Rouge from Domaine Delaporte is a Pinot Noir whose vines are 21 to 40 years-old and coming from limestone soils (Chavignol caillottes). The harvest is entirely destemmed and sorted by hand. Maceration lasts about 25 days and one pumping over per day is carried out to moisten the hat. Malolactic fermentation is natural, late and carried out in 228-litres barrels for 50% and in wooden vats for the other half. Aging lasts 8 to 12 months.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
