Bénédicte et Stéphane TISSOT - En Barberon - Pinot Noir 2019
Domaine Stéphane Tissot has for years already become an essential reference for Jura wines. Maurice Tissot, father of André Tissot and grandfather of Stéphane, owned 3 hectares of vines (vinified in a cooperative) and 25 hectares of agricultural land. He decided in 1956 to plant vines for each of his four sons: Jacques, Jean-louis, Daniel and André. The latter inherits 38 ares, which will become the André and Mireille Tissot estate, now run by their son Stéphane.
Stéphane Tissot is a rebellious spirit who appropriates traditions while sublimating them. After studying Viticulture & Oenology, he joined his father in the family estate in 1989. He gradually takes over the management of the estate and adopts organic farming in 1999, then goes into biodynamic in 2004. They now have 43 hectares planted with classic grape varieties from the Jura: Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot noir.
En Barberon is made from Pinot Noir, the vines of which are around 48 years old, and cultivated over an area of 1.80 hectares. The vinification is carried out with 60% whole berries, in tapered wooden vats for a 2-week maceration. Aging lasts 12 months in barrels, 30% of which are new.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
