The Domaine Elian Da Ros is located in Cocumont in the Côtes du Marmandais, on the left bank of the Garonne. Elian Da Ros, son of a farmer, dreamed of being a winemaker from his childhood and began studying viticulture and oenology at the age of 14. After working in Alsace for 5 years, he returned to his region of origin and built his winery. In 1998, he signed his first vintage. Today, the estate covers 19 hectares, certified in organic farming since 2000, and biodynamicsince 2002.
Chante Coucou is a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Malbec (20%) and Syrah (10%). Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from vines that are around 30 years old, rooted in clay-gravelly soil on a subsoil of gray marly molasses. The Malbecs come from a slightly younger plot that is also clayey and gravelly, but on a blue marl subsoil. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are destemmed, unlike the Malbecs and Syrah, and the vinification is carried out in open concrete vats with light punching down and a maceration of 2 to 3 weeks. Aging lasts 18 months in demi-muids for the Merlot, Malbec and Syrah which are aged together, and 24 months in barrels for the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Grape varieties: 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, 10% Syrah
