Mas Bécha - La Bergerie du Camps de Nyils 2017
Mas Bécha is located in Nyls-Ponteilla, in Roussillon. Since 2008, Charles Perez has managed the 25 hectares of vines according to the principles of organic farming. From his training at the OIV, between technical training and travel, he has retained a taste for meetings, a culture of high standards and the desire to share. The vineyard is located on the Aspres terroir, former fertile agricultural land with limestone subsoils. He establishes a protected biodiversity with olive trees, almond trees and cork oaks which acclimatise to the Mediterranean climate. Bottle labels are made each year by a different artist.
La Bergerie du Camps de Nyils is made with a dominant Syrah, complemented by Grenache and Mourvèdre. The grapes are pre-fermented with 14-day cold maceration, then fermented with daily stirring without punching down, followed by 48-hour post-fermentation work at 40°C with punching down. The wine is put into barrels for malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 12 months in 225-litres barrels, new and of medium heating.
