The Mitjaville are a family of Bordeaux wine producers, specialists in Merlot. In 1987, François and Malou Mitjavilleproduced the first vintage of Tertre Roteboeuf, an estate located in the highlands of the Saint-Emilion appellation. They subsequently acquired Château Roc de Cambes, north of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, and produced a wine using the same principles as for Tertre Roteboeuf. They also own the Domaine de Cambes, on the lower slopes of Roc de Cambes, and under this name offer a more accessible cuvée, but far from being a second wine. Their son, Louis Mtjaville, and his wife are following their share by buying the Domaine de l'Aurage (formerly Château Cadet), based in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.
These wines are made from low yields of Merlot harvested at maturity, and the long aging is carried out in barrels, with a high proportion of new oak.
