RENEGADE - Pre Cask - New Bacolet - 50%
Renegade Rum Distillery is the newest project from the man behind the renaissance of Islay’s Bruichladdich Single Malt whisky and Ireland’s terroir-driven Waterford Distillery: Mark Reynier. He chose Grenada because of its wide range of altitudes, microclimates and soils. Working with agricultural partners at CaneCo, he was able to grow numerous varieties of sugar cane across the island on the various terroirs. Old and young, skilled or amateur, numerous Grenadians have learned new skills, mastered modern machinery, and transformed parts of the island into farms full of high quality sugar cane.
New Bacolet is made from a variety called Lacalome Red (B80689) between the 11th and the 21th of January 2021 on the Goat Hill field located on south-facing, steep-sided slopes with rich colluvial soils. The fermentation of the cane lasted 60 hours and distillation took place on the 21st and 22nd of January 2021 is a pot still. The rum was bottled in early July 2021 and 3,678 bottles have been produced.
More information is available on Renegade’s Website in the “CaneCode” section with the code shown on the bottle.
