Roberto Voerzio - Cerequio Barolo 2012
Roberto Voerzio winery is located in La Morra, a village in the heart of the Langhe, in Piemonte Italy. The estate was founded in 1986 when Roberto inherited 5 hectares of his father’s vineyards. Since, he is one of the most acclaimed wine producers of Barolo. Now, the estate covers 8.5 hectares of vineyards around La Morra, with high planting densities producing tiny yields. There are 6 different parcels of in a range of Barolo crus: Brunate, Cerequio, Capalot, La Serra, Pozzo dell'Anunziata and Sarmassa di Barolo, which are all sources for individual cuvées. He also produces some Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo.
This Barolo is made from Nebbiolo grapes from the Cerequio vineyard. The alcoholic fermentation lasts 10 to 30 days and occurs spontaneously without yeasts. At the end of malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is racked in wood for the period of aging. The content of sulfites is bottling less than 50% of the amount permitted by law. The 2012vintage for Piedmont is generally regarded as excellent.
