Roberto Voerzio - La Serra Barolo 2014
Roberto Voerzio winery is located in La Morra, a village in the heart of the Langhe, in Piemonte Italy. The estate was founded in 1986 when Roberto inherited 5 hectares of his father’s vineyards. Since, he is one of the most acclaimed wine producers of Barolo. Now, the estate covers 8.5 hectares of vineyards around La Morra, with high planting densities producing tiny yields. There are 6 different parcels of in a range of Barolo crus: Brunate, Cerequio, Capalot, La Serra, Pozzo dell'Anunziata and Sarmassa di Barolo, which are all sources for individual cuvées. He also produces some Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo.
La Serra Barolo is made from Nebbiolo from the town of La Morra, harvested between the end of September and early October. The fermentation happens in steel and ageing lasts 24 months in used barriques and 15 hectolitres casks. It is followed by 8 months in steel and a further 8 months in bottle.
