Vieux Château Saint André 2016
Vieux Château Saint-André is located in the Montagne-Saint-Emilion appellation, in the Bordeaux wine region. In the 1970s, Jean-Claude Berrouet winemaker at Château Pétrus set out in search of a few hectares of vines in Saint-Emilion. Advised by the Moeix family, he acquired 4 hectares on clay-limestone soil and took the name of Vieux Château Saint-André, which was no longer exploited. Today the vineyard covers 10 hectares and is managed by his son Jeff.
This wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Extractions are gentle, and the wine ferments in vats until the end of the malolactic fermentation. Blending is carried out before placing in barrels. Aging lasts about 12 months in barrels, with 15 to 20% new oak.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
