Clos Venturi - Chisea Nera White 2018
Le Clos Venturi is located in the town of Piedigriggio, in the center of Corsica . The domain is managed by Emmanuel Venturi . His father, a graduate in oenology, first took over the management of the Casinca cooperative on the eastern coast of Corsica. In the 1980s, he bought a magnificent domain in difficulty: the Domaine de Vico. Emmanuel's childhood and adolescence are punctuated by these two places. Emmanuel leaves to study on the continent (law studies, business school, DESS in sustainable tourism) but his love of the island of beauty brings him back to the family estate. It was then that his father told him about a project he had since acquiring the estate: the creation of Clos Venturi, an isolated enclosure with its own identity, a cooler climate with atypical soils. Le Clos Venturi, created in 2005, is a 28-hectare plot located on a sandstone hill dating from the Miocene, set on a magmatic zone. The median altitude of the vines culminates at 480 meters. Biodynamic viticulture of native grape varieties has been practiced for about ten years. The estate is certified organic , and in the process of converting to biodynamic certification. Emmanuel Venturi also has an activity as a beekeeper and breeder of sheep and hens by environmental conviction.
Chiesa Nera means "black church". It is a blend of Vermentinu, Genovese and Biancu Gentile grown on sandstone with a south/southeast orientation. The harvest is manual, in several times, with a refrigerated truck at the plot to avoid oxidation of the grapes. The harvest is completely destemmed and put into cold pre-fermentation maceration for 48 to 72 hours. Fermentation takes place in egg-shaped concrete vats with indigenous yeasts. Aging lasts 12 months in vats on fine lees , then 4 to 6 months in bottle .
