Georges Descombes - Morgon - Vieilles Vignes 2019
Domaine Georges Descombes is located in Villié-Morgon, in Beaujolais. In 1988, Georges took over the family estate inherited from his grandmother. At the time, he also worked in a bottling company and with other winegrowers in the region. It was not until 1993 that he devoted himself entirely to his own estate. From the beginning, the vineyard, which today reaches 17 hectares, has been cultivated organically without certification. He owns 7 hectares in Morgon, the rest of the plots are in Brouilly, Régnié, Chiroubles and other wines are produced under the Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages appellations.
This Morgon Vieilles Vignes is made from old Gamay vines located in Corcellette in the Morgon appellation. The wine is aged for at least 12 months in barrels of several wines. Wines produced in Morgon tend to be denser than those produced in much of the rest of Beaujolais. They often exhibit cherry and dark fruit characters and a fleshy, juicy texture that is not common in Beaujolais wines. Morgon wines age distinctly and consistently well.
Grape variety: 100% Gamay
