Champagne Henri Giraud - Oak Barrel MV17 - Ay Grand Cru
The Champagne House Henri Giraud is located in the town of Aÿ , in Champagne . The Giraud-Hémart family has been cultivating vines in Aÿ since 1625 and is therefore the oldest Champagne House still managed by the founding family. However, it was not until current owner Claude Giraud took office in 1983 that he decided to take the family business to a new level. The ten-hectare vineyard extends over 35 plots and the Champagnes are made with their own grapes, but also from grapes purchased mainly from family or friends. They apply sustainable viticultural methods and are certified with high environmental value (HVE) . Henri Giraud abandoned the use of stainless steel tanks in 2016 and instead uses small oak barrels from the Argonne forest , which lies between Champagne and the Vosges.
MV stands for “ Multi Vintage ” and is based on three pillars: small yields, small containers and the original grape variety. MV is the result of work on the traceability of a vintage, and vinification in oak barrels which pushed the Henri Giraud house to understand the terroirs of the forest as much as their vine terroirs.
Grapes : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
