Grattamacco - Bolgheri Superiore Rosso 2018
Podere Grattamacco is located between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, in the Tuscany region of Italy . The estate was founded in 1977 by Piermario Meletti Cavallari and since 2002 has belonged to the Castello Colle Massari wine group. The estate covers an area of 80 hectares of which 29 hectares are planted with vines and 4 hectares with olive trees. Bolgheri enjoys a dry climate and significant temperature variations. Unlike other Tuscan wine appellations such as Chianti, Sangiovese continues to be grown, but less and less frequently; the main blends are composed of Bordeaux grape varieties.
Bolgheri Superiore is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (20%) and Sangiovese (15%) . The grapes come from 10 hectares of vines with an average age of 20 years, located 100 meters above sea level. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in open oak barrels then the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged 18 months in barrels of one wine and two wines, then aged in bottle for an additional 12 months .
