Lamas Distillery - Caburé - Single Malt from Brazil - 43%
The Lamas Distillery is located in Belo Horizonte in the region of Minas Gerais, Brazil . It was created in 2019, and originally produced cachaça. Today, the 3 founding brothers are destined for the production of Brazilian Single Malt and apply a classic production method according to the Scottish model. The family distillery makes it a point of honor to promote local wood species such as Bàlsamo wood or Putumuju to create unique aromatic profiles.
Caburé is made entirely from malted barley, distilled twice in a pot still. It is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels of 200 liters between 5 and 6 years then refined in Port wine barrels (20%) and Bàlsamo wooden barrels (80%). Bàlsamo wood, which the indigenous populations call “Caburé” in the native language, gives herbaceous and spicy notes.
