Pieropan - Soave Classico 2021
Pieropan is in the denomination of Soave , Veneto, Italy . Leonildo Pieropan established the estate at Palazzo Pullici in 1880 and since then successive generations of the Pieropan family have taken responsibility for the estate and its three organically grown vineyards: Calvarino, La Rocca and Garzon. An additional cellar was built in 2005 at Villa Cipolla Pieropan in Tregnago (Verona) in order to produce its Valpolicella Superiore and Amarone della Valpolicella wines. Pieropan also makes a sweet white wine Recioto di Soave from Garganega grapes grown in the Soave Classico region, as well as a sparkling rosé from the Corvina grape variety and an Extra Virgin olive oil.
Soave Classico is a blend of Garganega (85%) and Trebbiano di Soave (15%). The grapes come from a hillside vineyard in the Soave Classico area, on volcanic soils, located between 100 and 300 meters above sea level. The grapes are picked by hand, from mid-September for Trebbiano di Soave and from October for Garganega. The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed with the free-run juice fermented separately in vitrified cement vats. The wine remains in vitrified cement vats on fine lees for 3 to 8 months .
