Seghesio - Sonoma Napa Chardonnay 2020
Seghesio Family Vineyards is located in Sonoma Valley, California . The estate was founded in 1895 with the original 53-hectare Home Ranch vineyard. In the early 1980s Seghesio's Healdsberg winery was selling its production in bulk, but was converted to premium wine production when Ted Seghesio started working in the family business. The estate was expanded in the mid-20th century with the acquisition of vineyards that previously sold fruit in Seghesio, then in 2014 with the 10-hectare Montafi Ranch vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Today, the estate has 160 hectares of vines in sustainable agriculture , and 10 hectares under contract in AVA Rockpile.
This cuvée is made from Chardonnay (95%) and Vermentino (5%) . The grapes come from Sonoma County (60%) and Napa County (40%). After the manual harvest, the whole bunches are pressed. Vinification and aging take place in stainless steel vats and barrels . A small proportion of the wine has undergone malolactic conversion.
