COLOMA - 8 years old - Rum from Colombia - 40%
Ron Coloma is produced in the Hacienda Coloma, a coffee production estate located at an altitude of 1,700 meters in the heart of Colombia . Don Alberto Constain Medina dreamed of creating a rum of great Colombian character. It was only in 2005, after several attempts at illegal distillation, that the Colombian government relaxed its monopoly on the production of spirits. Don Alberto has disappeared but his son has undertaken his father's dream. Today, in addition to the coffee liqueur, it produces a rum with the help of the two best Colombian rum masters, Sandra Restegui and Judith Ramirez .
They designed this rum from sugarcane molasses , with continuous and traditional aging (non-solera method) in American oak barrels that had contained Bourbon and refined in barrels previously used for aging Coloma coffee liqueur . The rum is reduced with water from the Andes and filtered through old Hacienda Coloma coffee filters.
