Chateau Manos 1995
Château Manos is located in the commune of Haux, in the Cadillac appellation in the Bordeaux wine region. Château Manos is close to Château Lamothe, which has been in charge of it since 1991. The Néel-Chombart family is responsible for the cultivation, vinification and marketing of this wine, which benefits from the reputation of its big brother produced in Sauternes. . The owner, Mr. Niotout, is a recognized specialist in sweet wines who was cellar master at Château Coutet in Barsac for 20 years.
The traditional cuvée of Château Manos is a blend of Sémillon (98%), Sauvignon Blanc (1%) and Muscadelle (1%) . The botrytised grapes (about 80%) are harvested manually and then ferment in vats or barrels. The aging is carried out in barrels in the underground cellars of Château Lamothe.
For Sauternes , the 1995 vintage was mostly brilliant . The growing season began with a mild winter, which turned into a warm, mild spring. Summer then brought high temperatures and dry weather, perfect for ensuring the phenolic maturity of the grapes. A wet September then led to the easy development of botrytis as the temperatures were still high enough to create that much needed humidity.
Grapes: 98% Sémillon, 1% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Muscadelle
