Frescobaldi - Tenuta Luce della Vite - Lucente 2020
The history of the Frescobaldi family dates back over a thousand years and is closely linked to the history of Tuscany , Italy . For 700 years, the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation. Frescobaldi represents the true diversity of Tuscany and its six estates , Nipozzano, CastelGiocondo, Pomino, Ammiraglia, Castiglioni and Remole, are all located in the most suitable areas for the production of fine wines. Ornellaia, Masseto, Luce Della Vite, Danzante and Attems (Friuli) are also part of the Frescobaldi group. Frescobaldi's main vision is to represent the diversity of its terroirs, while using a sustainable cultivation of the land.
The Tenuta Luce Della Vite was created by the Frescobaldi and Mondavi families . In 2005, Lamberto Frescobaldi, Vittorio's son, inherited the management of the Tenuta Luce project. Today, he is responsible for all production guidelines, from the vineyard to the creation of each vintage's blends. His work is driven by a deep respect for the land and its inhabitants.
Lucente 2020 is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese . The Merlot was harvested on September 3 and the Sangiovese from September 18. Fermentation lasted 10 days in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats with maceration on the skins for 20 days. The aging lasted 12 months in barrels , partly new and partly used.
The 2020 vintage in Tuscany experienced a mild and dry winter, which led to an early but homogeneous bud break in the vines. Spring was sunny, with some rain in May and June, which favored excellent flowering. The summer was hot and dry with good thermal amplitudes between day and night. During the last week of August, two beneficial rainy episodes came to invigorate the vines and lowered the temperatures allowing the grapes to complete their maturation. The harvest took place in ideal conditions with sunny days without peaks of heat. These conditions made it possible to obtain high quality grapes, with excellent phenolic maturity and great aromatic balance.
