Chateau Grand Village - Red 2020
Château Grand Village is a Bordeaux Supérieur located in Mouillac, north of Fronsac, in Bordeaux . It belongs to the Guinaudeau family , owners of Château Lafleur , the Grand Cru of Pomerol. The family has been established in the region since the 17th century, but the first vintage of Grand Village only saw the light of day in 1980. The 17.8-hectare vineyard is planted mainly with red grape varieties (14 hectares), with a small plot where Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon are grown. Château Grand Village uses the same vineyard cultivation techniques as those used at Château Lafleur.
Château Grand Village red is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The grapes are harvested manually, then sorted meticulously. The wine is vinified in traditional cement vats and then aged partially in barrels that have been used for the vinification of Pomerol , with 30% other new French oak barrels for about 12 months before bottling. These new barrels are then sent to Château Lafleur for aging of the Grand Vin and Pensées de Lafleur for the following vintage.
