CLOS MANOU 2020
Clos Manou is located in the Médoc of Bordeaux , in Saint-Christoly-Médoc. It was created in 1998 by Françoise and Stéphane Dief , in their garage as a cellar. Over the years, they built up their vineyard, which now covers 18 hectares, through the purchase of a 4-hectare cru artisan and a 7-hectare cru bourgeois. They now have a 600m2 vat room, two storage cellars, two barrel aging cellars and an aging cellar with egg-shaped vats and terracotta jars.
Clos Manou is the great wine of the property. The 2020 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (10%) . The harvest is manual, in crates. First the bunches of grapes are sorted on the table before manual destemming on oak shelves. Then the grains are sorted before crushing in the manual mill and vatting in wooden vats, with a bleeding of 5 to 10%. The harvest of each vat is lowered to 10° for 48 to 72 hours with some punching down. Another part of the harvest is vinified in new 400-litre barrels. The malolactic conversion occurs entirely in new barrels then the wine is aged on the lees with micro-oxygenation and batonnage.
Grapes: 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot
