Domaine de Montcalmes - Grenache 2020
The Domaine de Montcalmès is located in Languedoc , in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation for its red wines and Coteaux du Languedoc for its whites. The estate extends over 22 hectares, in the communes of Puéchabon, Aniane, Saint-Jean-de-Fos and Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian. The Domaine de Montcalmès has been run by Frédéric Pourtalié and his sister, Muriel since 1998. They cultivate Syrah and Grenache vines, which are on average thirty years old, as well as Mourvèdre. The estate has been organic since 2012, and certified since 2015.
The Grenache comes from vines of around thirty years old located on a limestone plateau facing north, in the town of Puéchabon . The vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts and undergoes a maceration of 30 days. The aging takes place in oak barrels of one wine, two wines or more for 24 months . The wine is bottled without filtration.
