Château JEAN FAUX “Les Sources” 2020
Château Jean Faux is located in the village of Sainte-Radegonde , on the hillsides facing Saint-Emilion and Castillon in Bordeaux . The Château which belonged to the Count of Mélac, a general of Louis XIV, was renovated in the 17th century. The property remained in the same family for a long time and covered 100 hectares, of which 30 hectares were planted with vines. Pascal Collotte and his wife Chrystel bought the house in 2002 with its 45 hectares, including 1.5 hectares of vines. Pascal Collotte unfortunately left us in June 2022. The property is today managed by Chrystel and her children Clémence and Victor . The vineyard now has 12 hectares of grape varieties for the production of red wine, and 2 hectares for the production of white wine. Stéphane Derenoncourt has been a consultant at the property since 2003, and Claude and Lydia Bourguignon (the famous microbiologists) have confirmed through observation and soil analysis that the terroirs of Château Jean Faux are a major asset for the vines. The vineyard has been conducted in certified biodynamic agriculture since 2016 .
Les Sources is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) . The grapes are cold macerated before fermentation which takes place in stainless steel and cement vats. The wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, 15% of which are new.
Grape varieties: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
