Domaine Pouderoux - Maury Hors d'Age
Domaine Pouderoux is located in Maury, in Roussillon . The estate was passed down from mother to daughter for 6 generations until Robert Pouderoux, only son, who has since given the property to his little cousin Louise Tanguy . She is accompanied by her friend Léo Hemmer Bury . The vineyard was converted to organic farming from 2011 and obtained its biodynamic certification in 2021. The duo ensures ecological diversity on their islets of vines by promoting habitats for insects, birds and bats as well as as endemic plant species: almond trees, kermes oak, rockroses, broom, serviceberries, euphorbias, arbutus trees, mimosas and junipers. The terroir consists of a subsoil of brown marl, covered on the surface with black schist. Louise and Léo produce sweet and dry wines in the Maury appellation, with low yields.
Maury Hors d'Âge is made from Grenache Noir grown on black schist hillsides in the Maury appellation. The harvest is manual, with selection and sorting by plot. The grapes are destemmed then mutated on grapes with maceration for 20 days. The wine is aged oxidatively in oak demi-muids with a blend of vintages in the style of a Solera system.
These wines are assembled in the style of a Solera, from a base developed before conversion to organic and biodynamic agriculture; therefore, this vintage is not subject to certification.
Grape variety: 100% Grenache Noir
