WATERFORD - Micro Cuvée - Good Vibrations - 50%
The Waterford Distillery is located in the town of Waterford, Ireland . The project was initiated by Mark Reynier , the man behind the rebirth of Islay Bruichladdich Single Malt whisky, inspired by the world's greatest winemakers. The distillery is a facility originally built by Diageo in 2004 and converted into a distillery in 2015. The production of terroir whiskeys gives importance to the provenance of the barley, its location and method of cultivation. Mark Reynier works in collaboration with 86 Irish farms growing barley on 19 distinct soils , including organic and biodynamic barley. With a highly developed digital logistics system, each farmer's harvest is harvested, stored, malted and distilled separately.
Good Vibrations is the result of a collaboration between La Maison du Whiskey and Waterford head distiller Ned Gahan. The barley used (50% Hunter, 25% Olympus, 25% Prospect) comes from 3 farms: that of Jackson Organic (Lacka), that of Tom Bryan on the Donoughmore site and that of Francis Kehoe (Lacken). The maturation lasted 3 years, 11 months and 6 days. The whiskey matures entirely in first-fill American oak barrels from Jim Beam and Heaven Hill. The barrels were assembled on May 31, 2023, bottling took place in August 2023. 1,200 bottles were produced.
