Storm Wines - Ridge - Pinot Noir 2019
Storm Wines is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde region, South Africa . After 12 vintages in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley ("Paradise and Earth" in Afrikaans) working closely with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Hannes Storm discovered two small plots with particularly exceptional terroirs . The two vineyards, one in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and the other in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, were planted in 2008 with Pinot Noir. Hemel-en-Aarde benefits from a maritime climate , influenced by the coolness of the Atlantic Ocean, it is considered an exceptional wine-growing region with a cool climate. Small production, careful viticulture, minimal intervention in the cellar and a constant nod to the Old World present the wines with a distinctive personality and character.
Ridge Pinot Noir comes from a cool slope of the Hemel-en-Aarde ridge with Bokkeveld schist soil that is not very vigorous, stony and rich in clay.
