Domaine Bernard Moreau - Chassagne Montrachet 2020
Domaine Bernard Moreau is located in Chassagne-Montrachet , Burgundy . It was founded in 1809, when Auguste Moreau built a cellar near the Champs Gain vineyard and cultivated a few hectares on the hillside. Most of the current wineries were added starting in the 1930s under the direction of Marcel Moreau. Bernard Moreau took over the vineyard in the early 1960s at the age of 14, and in 1977 gave his name to the estate. In 1995, his son Alexandre joined him followed by Benoît in 2002 and they are now both at the head of the vineyard, the bulk of which is in Chassagne-Montrachet , although there are also plots in Saint-Aubin and Volnay . They favor an organic approach to the vine, having, for a long time now, generalized the plowing of the soil and banned all synthetic inputs. A vision which has also translated, in recent years, into the use of biodynamic preparations .
Chassagne-Montrachet is made from Chardonnay fermented with native yeasts in French oak barrels, of which 10% to 30% is new. The wine is then aged for 14 to 15 months in French oak barrels , also with a proportion of 10% to 30% new oak .
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
