Domaine Abbatucci - Valle di Mare 2022
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in Southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties which contributes to the preservation of the island's wine heritage. The estate is today managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with an influence from phytotherapy practices: horse plowing and control of winter grass cover with its flock of sheep.
Valle di Mare is made from Carcajolo Nero whose vines have been treated with seawater since 2016. The harvest is destemmed and not crushed. Maceration lasts several weeks in stainless steel vats with punching down and pumping over. After devatting, the juices are separated. Aging lasts 12 months in casks and demi-muids . The wines are reassembled in stainless steel vats and aged for 3 months. The wine is then left to rest for 6 months in the bottle.
Grape variety: 100% Carcajolo Nero
