Château FONROQUE 2015
Château Fonroque is located in Saint-Emilion , on the right bank of Bordeaux . It has been owned by the Moueix family since 1931 and has been managed by Alain Moueix since 2001. He was one of the first Bordeaux winegrowers to practice organic farming, and is now also certified biodynamic . The Fonroque estate extends over 20 hectares of land, planted with nearly 18 hectares of vines, with an average age of around 35 years.
Château Fonroque 2015 is a blend of Merlot (92.5%) and Cabernet Franc (7.5%) . The wine is aged in barrels (75%) and vats (25%). The 2015 Bordeaux vintage is considered exceptionally good . Spring was milder than usual, with a warm April and a mini heatwave in early May, which contributed to successful flowering. The rain fell after flowering, bringing welcome relief to the vines. July remained hot and eventually the rain arrived in early August, but the downpours did not stop. In what had been one of the driest summers in recent history, August then turned out to be one of the wettest.
Grape varieties: 92.5% Merlot, 7.5% Cabernet Franc
