Château GRAND CORBIN-DESPAGNE 2001
Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is located in Saint-Émilion , on the right bank of the Bordeaux wine region. It has belonged to the Despagne family since 1812 and is today managed by the 7th generation, represented by François Despagne. The vineyard is located in the north of the Saint-Émilion appellation, bordering Pomerol. The property has been certified in organic farming since 2013 and biodynamic practices have been implemented since 2018.
Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 2001 is a blend of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (24%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (1%) . The wine is aged in new barrels (60%) and in 1 and 2 wine barrels (40%). The 2001 vintage experienced a growing season with unpredictable weather conditions, ranging from too cold to too hot with periods of intense rain followed by drought. The cold spring finally warmed up in May when a heat wave hit, but July was wet and August and September were dry.
