Château Haut-Bergey 2020
Château Haut-Bergey is located in Pessac-Léognan , Bordeaux . It dates from the 15th century, but the castle which was built in 1850 as a leisure residence had an abandoned vineyard. It has belonged to the Garcin family since 1991. Managed by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard, the property has been the subject of a vast rehabilitation plan both in terms of the vines and the cellars, while adopting the basics of agriculture concerned with the environment. Since 2014, Paul Garcin has decided to lead the estate in organic farming and then in certified biodynamics since 2015 . The vineyard covers 28.5 hectares, mainly planted with red grape varieties while 2 hectares are dedicated to the production of white wine. The Garcin Vineyard portfolio also includes Clos L'Église in Pomerol, other Châteaux in Pessac-Léognan and Bodega Poesia in Mendoza.
Haut-Bergey Rouge is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot . The harvest is harvested by hand using small boxes to avoid damaging the fruit. The grapes are vinified in small thermoregulated stainless steel vats of 80 to 120 hectoliters. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months , 1/3 of which are new .
